Pro 4:7 KJV – Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
At a family and friends gathering, I suggested we write our prayer requests down. There were many different requests, however the request for wisdom was on each list. The wisdom of God is a must for ruling and reigning over every situation we face. To apply the knowledge of God to every circumstance in our life, the wisdom of God is required. Wisdom is the principal thing.
The Hebrew word for principal, re’shiyth, is the same word found in Genesis 1:1 “ln the beginning”. So, we see wisdom is not only the main thing but first thing.
Years ago, I was faced with a difficult situation. The Holy Spirit directed me to James 1:5-8.
James 1:5 KJV lf any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
I asked God for wisdom but after a few days I still had not received wisdom for my problem. I inquired of the Lord again and He showed me the words “nothing wavering (doubting)” in verse 6. Instantly the Holy Spirit showed me that I was waiting for God to give me His wisdom before committing to follow it. I wanted to hear His wisdom first and then decide if I would do it. That’s wavering, that’s double-minded.
After setting my heart to hear and carry out Father God’s wisdom for my problem, it was only a matter of a few minutes, and His wisdom came to me. Problem solved.
Prayer: Father in the name of Jesus, I ask you for Your wisdom concerning the situations and circumstances I am facing today. Thank you, Father, for your wisdom today! Amen.
