Framing Prayer with God’s Word

Hebrews 11:3 declares that God framed the worlds with His own Word. For our prayers to be effective, we want them framed by God with the material of His Word.

The pattern was set by Jesus.

John 5:19 Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.”

John 5:30 “I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.”

John 8:28 Then Jesus said to them, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things.”

John 12:49 “For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak.”

Jesus lived “by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.” He instructed His disciples to let the Word guide their prayers. “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you” (John 15:7).

The Apostle John wrote, “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him” (1 John 5:14–15).

There is no better way to pray the will of God than to pray the Word of God.

The Word must hold the highest priority in the life of a prayer warrior. God’s life flows to a person through the medium of His Word (Deut. 8:3; Ps. 119:50, 93, 153, 159; John 6:63). We nurture our souls as we meditate on God’s Word, bringing prosperity to our entire person (Josh. 1:8; Ps. 1:2–3; James 1:21; 3 John 2).

It imparts wisdom, knowledge, understanding, discretion, and prudence (Deut. 4:5–14; Ps. 119:98–100, 104; Jer. 8:9; Matt. 7:24–25; Luke 6:47–48). It brings health and healing (Ex. 15:26; Ps. 43:3; Ps. 119:130; Prov. 6:20–23; Isa. 30:21).

The benefits of the Word are innumerable. The majority of prayer requests are automatically answered for those who meditate on the Word of God daily.
